Earth Overclocked Xforce

About This Game Earth Overclocked is a twin-stick shooter with rogue-like elements, set in a distorted version of our world where trees are evil, snowmen have lasers, and monsters run amok. After a scientist's time machine explodes while traveling to the past, he finds himself trapped in this hostile, parallel dimension. Now he must reassemble the time machine and escape before this warped reality collapses in on itself. Fortunately, a variety of bizarre and powerful weapons are scattered throughout the land to aid him in his quest. Arm the Scientist with shotguns, boomerangs, cannons, magical swords, and even cheese to help him survive! With only 20 minutes to explore, blast monsters, and rebuild his time machine; surviving Earth Overclocked isn't going to be easy. In true rogue-like fashion death is permanent, but procedurally generated environments combined with permanently unlockable weapons, game modes, and abilities makes each playthrough feel like fresh experience. Widescreen and full-controller support (well done, at that), VSYNC, Antialiasing options, and even an option to show the FPS. The tutorial is short and simple and almost fits into the story. The gameplay is impressively polished for such a new, early-access game (that only has 3 reviews so far?). It's fun, and the roguelike nature of it fits the game well. The interface is minimal and functional. It just about fits the bill at this price point ($5.99), but I got it in a bundle, so... Recommended, though. Give this developer some support!. It's a rogue like. Idk what to say to the negative reviews. I think people who picked this game up and didn't like it did not understand that it was a rogue like. These are some of the hardest games out there. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who has never played a roguelike. But if you have and you like them then by all means, enjoy this game, you will. I did. I think I might actually end up doing regular runs side by side with Isaac runs. Isaac is basically my main game so to put this game up there as a side kick to that is saying a LOT. Here is a fair warning though, the devs are no longer supporting the game. It was their first project and they're working on some new stuff. Plus this was make in GameMaker Studio which is not the best engine out there, let's face it. But they did a lot with this engine. I would go as far to say that they possibly did better than other games with the same engine, like Hotline Miami. This is definitely one of those under rated gems. I know my reviews are very subjective but look, I used to do professional reviews for a gaming site, and I didn't like it. I don't like turning my favorite games into a science, and I'm certainly not going to do it with this one. It's a lot of fun. That SHOULD be all that matters. As an artist and designer I will say the artwork could use some improvement. It looks like the art was picked right off a GameMaker Assets page. And the sound is very generic and videogamey arcadey but it's okay because it actually fits the game. I wouldn't turn my nose up at a remake in Unity. But that isn't to say this game is somehow broken, it's not. It's not for the average consumer though so tread with caution! However I will say it shattered my expectations in the best of ways. BRAVO!. The game is frustrating as hell - and not in a fun "just one more try" way.The biggest problem with this game, in my opinion, is the weapon durability. The game is happy to throw hordes and hordes of enemies at you and once your weapon breaks.. well, game over, pretty much. You're not punching your way out of being surrounded by 6+ enemies.I've seen a few other reviewers complain about the time limit the game has but, honestly, it was never that big of a deal for me. I usually had plenty of time to get things done (making sure to open chests as often as possible to pick up the "extra time" power ups that were readily available), so that was never an issue. Every "failed run" I've had on this game is because I've been outnumbered and been reduced to fighting with my fists. Which is frustrating the first time.. and only goes downhill from there on subsequent attempts. If there was an option to turn off weapon durability, or if it was removed entirely, I think the game would be much better for it and I'd actually be happy to recommend this game/give it a positive review. In its current state, however, I don't want to play it anymore ~ because I don't find it fun to die multiple times because the game took away my weapon for a stupid reason. Hell, even if weapons that you found in chests always spawned with 100% durability it'd be an improvement.. but I still think getting rid of the weapon durability entirely is the only thing that would bring me back to playing it.I liked the art style, the controls, and the actual concept of the game... but the actual execution was a bit of a misfire for me.The game has a lot of potential, but at the moment it's a pass from me.4/10[Edit:]Quick edit because I didn't mention the Gym Suit and I'm sure somebody will point it out.I know that it removes the weapon durability concern that I mentioned however that's just for that suit and, as the levels "Final Malfunction" and "The Conclusion" both require you to beat other levels with multiple suits in order to unlock them, my point still stands. The most fun I had playing the game was when I was playing with the Gym Suit and, honestly, I couldn't ask for better proof that the weapon durability system takes away from the fun of the game.. If you find yourself alone in the woods in your birthday suit, all you need is a sharknado. Also beware operating chainsaws while naked. Buy as much of Deaths and his imposters second hand s**t as you can. Remember, if you dont sharknado your gonna have a bad time.Brilliant retro rogue-like, fast and fairly tactful, fun and a bit challanging, mental guns (sharknado).Personaly id rate this game as better than The Binding of Isaac but not quite as fun as Nucluar Throne. Think I got it for less than the price of a sandwich as well, so im very happy.Recommend.. decent. could be good if you could actually run away from fast moving bosses after dodging their rush, if the weapon projectiles hitted fast moving enemies, if you didn't have to rush dungeons to finish in time and if the weapons were better balanced (for example, shooting a rocket upwards can make it go right instead and melee range might not be enough to get to an enemy while many are shooting or attacking you).. A non-biased quick look @ the game:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P10yaSH6RbYA superb and very addictive top-down rogue-lite adventure. Fight through the non-linear procedurally generated overworld and dungeons with over 30 weapon types, which can be mixed and matched to your liking. While death is permanent, every new run brings new loot, monsters, and challenges. - Highly Recommended!. It's actually a good rogue-like game. PROS:Different hero-classes.Enemy movement and classes vary. Game mechanics.Weapons deplete.CONS:20 minute gameGeneric Soundtrack - not annoying - but nothing to remember either. Graphics: mediocre. Replayability is zero - once you´re through you can erase it. It might be randomized each time...butit doesn´t seem that different.. A pretty decent game. I picked it up for a dollar a few sales back and it's done pretty well. It's not a game you sit down and play all day and night, but it is a pretty good timewaster every now and again. I would highly recommend waiting for a sale in order to buy this game, though, as it would make it much more worth-while.
